KIWANIS SPRING SHOE DRIVE

Happy Spring! On behalf of Portage Lakes Kiwanis, thank you for your support of our community and the annual Rose Remembrance Day.

Portage Lakes Kiwanis is currently collecting gently worn, used and new shoes at several locations in and around the lakes. As you likely know, we provide programming and financial support to the youth of Portage Lakes with activities like Easter Egg Hunts, Academic Scholarships and the infamous Santa Delivery. This new fundraising program supports climate and sustainability efforts by repurposing donated shoes, helping micro-entrepreneurs in developing nations, and creating jobs in the U.S. for American workers.

Back here in the lakes, it’s a great time to clean out closets and donate shoes! We chose this fundraiser as a creative alternative to asking the community for money.

The following organizations have volunteered to accept shoe donations during their regular business hours:

Town Park Cleaners (Uniontown)
Boggs Chiropractic (Uniontown)
Waikem Ford & Waikem Honda (Massillon)
Bling It On Apparel
Portage Lakes Deli & Dogs

In addition to the various drop-off locations, Portage Lakes Kiwanis will host two (2) Drive-Thru dates at our Civic Center (725 Portage Lakes Drive). Drive-Thru will be OPEN Saturday, April 9, 2022 and Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. We will accept shoe donations every Wednesday from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Civic Center.

PL Kiwanis Satellite Club Program:
Hunger Free Weekends & Blessings in a Backpack

The Portage Lakes Kiwanis Satellite Club has started a program called “Hunger Free Weekends & Blessings in a Backpack” where donated non-perishable food items are placed in these children’s backpacks to take home with them.

We are asking for your donations!
