The TJ Mozik Memorial Co-Ed Charity Softball Tournament is a loving tribute to a young man taken too soon from all who knew and loved him. Throughout the 26 months of treatment following TJ's diagnosis of Ewing's Sarcoma, an overwhelming number of loving family members and friends gave unselfishly of their time, energy, and money to support TJ and maintain his spirits through fundraisers. These included a Portage Lake Jump in early May of 2007, a charity bike run later that summer, several benefit dinners at the Upper Deck in Portage Lakes, and, in the spring of 2008, a charity softball tournament.

2008's ' Portage Lakes Charity Softball Bash' included just 4 teams and raised $ 2500 for TJ's medical bills. After his passing May 1, 2009, the event was renamed the TJ Mozik Charity Softball Tournament, hosted 8 teams, and raised $ 2271 to assist his family with burial expenses.

It was decided the event would continue, benefiting a local young person with a terminal condition; a tribute and a promise to support those in need in our own backyard.
