Portage Lakes, OH 44319 is a unique community of three neighboring cities that surround eight small lakes that total abour 2,000 acres of water.

Portage Lakes State Park offers visitors a variety of outdoor recreational experiences throughout 411-acres. Boating, swimming and fishing are popular on the lakes. The park wetlands attract waterfowl and shorebirds, providing visitors enjoyment whether fishing, hiking, or observing wildlife.

Eight lakes encompass a total of 2,034 acres. All lakes have a 400-hp limit, except for Nimisila Reservoir which allows electric motors only. Eight boat launch ramps provide access to the lakes. A boat camping area is located at Latham Bay.

Portage Lakes is named after the old Native American portage path which connected the Cuyahoga River flowing north to Lake Erie and the Tuscarawas River which through the Muskingum, flows south to the Ohio River.

All areas of Portage Lakes are "No Wake" except for buoyed portions of Turkeyfoot Lake and East Reservoir.
